BRE conference on Offsite Construction in February

On 11 February 2016 the Building Research Establishment (BRE), in partnership with the Structural Timber Association (STA) will hold a conference on offsite construction at BRE headquarter in Watford.

The event is studied to help clients, investors and developers to understand the investment case and the opportunities for delivering buildings and assets more efficiently and cost-effectively using offsite and modern methods of construction.

Offsite construction is crucial to the government’s strategy to increase efficiency, reduce costs and lower carbon emissions in the industry. It can also represent a valid answer to delivering more homes.

BSRIA seminar: 'Comfort shouldn't cost the earth'

On 15 January 2016 the Building Services Research and Information Association (BSRIA) will hold a seminar called 'Comfort shouldn't cost the earth'.

The event will look at a new approach to determine how indoor environmental quality (IEQ) factors can affect buildings’ occupants and how information can be used to improve indoor environmental quality.

"Although it is important to reduce energy consumption - the organisers explain - such strategies should also maintain the indoor environmental quality (IEQ) and increase occupants’ well-being and productivity; otherwise the risk is to not be attractive to businesses".

Building the future - BSRIA white paper presentation

The BSRIA white paper presentation, "Building the future", will take place on 24 September 2015 from 10am at the City Place House in London.

The event, involving senior personnel from major players in the Construction Industry, will deepen two essential subjects: what products and systems to use in future reduced carbon buildings and how to get the next generation to join the Industry.

"As global Governments are setting targets for CO2 emissions, some as high as 80% reduction by 2050; those working in the built environment find themselves on the front line of the carbon reduction agenda", undelined BSRIA. "Buildings currently account for around 40% of all energy consumption and 80% of the buildings we will use in 2050 have already been built.".
